Care homes to be assessed every five years.
An assessment every five years is not enough to maintain public confidence in the quality of our care homes.
There has never been a more important time for the public to share information regarding the best care homes in England, according to Debbie Harris of Best-care-home.co.uk.
The Care Quality Commission is to review how often they review adult social care providers after the new registration system is introduced in October 2010.
Sheila Scott, the chief executive of the National Care Association said that she expected care homes rated excellent to be inspected every five years.
Best-care-home.co.uk is extremely concerned that inspections of this frequency will seriously undermine public confidence in the quality rating scheme. Debbie Harris said 'an assessment carried out every three years was barely sufficient to maintain the high standards required to justify an 'excellent' rating, after five years the initial rating will be worthless'.
The personal recommendations provided on best-care-home.co.uk aim to add value to the 3 star system provided by the Care Quality Commission and will prove to be more important than ever once the new frequency of rating is in place.
